How the Epoch Converter works
Unix (or epoch) time counts the seconds since 00:00:00 UTC on 1 January 1970. The converter parses your date with JavaScript's date parser, reads the number of milliseconds since the epoch, and divides by 1,000 for seconds.
Watch the time zone: 2026-01-01T12:00:00 is read in your local time, while 2026-01-01T12:00:00Z is noon UTC, and they give different timestamps. To go the other way, from a timestamp to a readable date, use the Unix Timestamp Converter.
