How the Tip Calculator works
The tip is a percentage of the bill, and the total is split evenly:
Tip = Bill × Tip % ÷ 100Total = Bill + TipPer person = Total ÷ Number of people
For a 86.40 bill with an 18% tip shared by 3 people, the tip is 15.55, the total 101.95 and each person pays about 33.98. Customs vary: in the US 15 to 20% is standard for table service, while in many other countries a smaller tip or rounding up is usual.
