How the Power Converter works
Power is the rate of using energy, measured in watts (joules per second). The converter goes through watts: 1 kW = 1,000 W, 1 MW = 1,000,000 W, 1 mechanical horsepower = 745.7 W and 1 BTU per hour ≈ 0.293 W.
That lets you compare an engine rated in horsepower with an electric motor rated in kilowatts, or an air conditioner's BTU/h rating with its electrical power draw.
