HTML to Markdown
Convert HTML markup to Markdown, instantly in your browser.
How to use the HTML to Markdown
- Paste your HTML.
- Click Run to convert it to Markdown.
- Copy the Markdown into your README, documentation or note-taking app.
How the HTML to Markdown works
The converter parses the HTML and walks through each element, writing its Markdown equivalent: <h2> becomes ##, <strong> becomes **bold**, links become [text](url), list items become - or numbered lines, and <pre> blocks become fenced code blocks. Tables are converted to GitHub-style pipe tables.
Elements with no Markdown equivalent, such as styled divs and scripts, are reduced to their text content. Preview the result with the Markdown Preview tool.
