How the Lorem Ipsum Generator works
Lorem Ipsum is scrambled Latin derived from a work by Cicero, used since the 1500s as filler text because it has a natural-looking distribution of word lengths without distracting readers with real meaning.
The generator picks words at random from the classic Lorem Ipsum vocabulary and groups them into sentences of between 6 and 14 words, each starting with a capital letter and ending with a full stop, until each paragraph reaches the word count you chose. Results differ every time you run it.
Frequently asked questions
- Is this tool free?
- Yes. Generate Lorem Ipsum text at no cost, with no account required.
- Is the generated text always the same?
- No. Words are chosen at random from the classic Lorem Ipsum word list each time you generate text, so results vary between runs.
- What does Lorem Ipsum mean?
- It's adapted from Cicero's "De finibus bonorum et malorum" (45 BC), but the words are scrambled and altered so the text has no real meaning, which keeps attention on the design.
